Rate the PLATE is Australia's only national community based road and traffic surveillance system. Rate the PLATE increases the community's awareness of; and participation in; road safety issues by allowing people to express their views and opinions on road user behaviour and vehicle use simply by using vehicle's number plate as a point of reference.

The primary objective of the Rate the PLATE system is to raise community awareness and encourage community participation in road safety issues. We achieve this outcome by providing the general community with a free, easy to use, non-violent system (www.ratetheplate.com.au) in which the general community can voice their concerns (or compliments) about driver behaviour and vehicle use.

Unlike any other system, Rate the PLATE collects the opinions of road users and their interpretations on road incidents and traffic activity. When combined, this information can provide a unique snap shot in to the community's opinion and perception on a range of road and traffic related matters. This information can help registered organisations manage their vehicle fleets and drivers activity by helping them to identity patterns, habits, hotspots and trends in context of their organisation's fleet or organisation's area of responsibility. This service obviously compliments other existing road safety programs and systems.
